Our story

The road to now

ONLINECITY.IO began in 1999 as a passion project by two ambitious young guys, Thomas Hofmann and Ulrik Hoffmann (not related, though their surnames are pronounced the same!) who were both fascinated by the internet. By day, they ran a flooring business to fund their dreams, and by night, they worked tirelessly on their IT projects.

Over time, their dedication paid off – and what started as an idea has grown into the ONLINECITY.IO that we are today.

We have offered a range of tech services through the years, but messaging platforms have always been our passion. That’s why we today offer services from CPaaS to cutting-edge connectivity through GatewayAPI (2016), NexCon.io (2019) and RelationCity (2021).

The dream is now more than ever to deliver expansive connectivity. We have ambitious plans, but we also make sure to put our talented employees first, as we believe that happy employees create thriving businesses.

So what’s really important to us, and what is the code behind our business?

Our vision is to make technology-based communication easy for people. Simple as that.

Our mission isn’t that complex either: We build intelligent and connected self-service platforms that make communication easy for local and global companies. We maximize scalability and user experience, all while minimizing the price, so businesses of all sizes can connect and thrive in today’s interconnected world.

We’ve given it a lot of thought how we best succeed as a business and as a workplace. And as it turned out, the four values we chose made the acronym SAIL which really excited our communication department. Cruise through them below!

Simplicity

We strive to make complex matters simple both in words and in action, and we challenge ourselves to find the simplest solution to the challenges we are presented with.

Ambition

We are ambitious on our customers’ behalf as well as our own, and we always ask ourselves the question “How can we do better and be more efficient?”

We always show each other respect, we are active listeners and curious towards each other, and we prioritize knowledge-sharing.

We value loyalty and pay it back, meaning that we recognize and return the trust, commitment and reliability that our employees and customers display.

Wild growth journey!

When I first joined the company, I was uncertain about the path my career would take. Initially, I began my journey as a supporter, but it didn’t take long for me to discover my natural flair for sales.

This revelation opened up numerous opportunities for me to hone my skills in that area. Over time, I have been fortunate enough to expand my expertise and take on greater responsibilities.

Today, I proudly oversee operations while also managing sales, purchasing, and providing exceptional service to our large clientele.
